The Shelter Cove Oceanfront Inn

I love the Shelter Cove Oceanfront Inn! I’ve been there twice and will definitely return. The best part is the ocean view directly from most rooms, but even in the units without a direct view, I can still hear the waves crashing, and I only need to walk a few steps outside to see the ocean. I especially like the rooms with the clover leaf jacuzzi tub. The cafe downstairs is very good. I can’t wait to come back. Other perks - beautiful hiking all around. And some of the best food I’ve had at Mi Mochima less than a mile away, a pleasant walk.

Our family of 5 with dog spent the weekend in Shelter Cove, and couldn't be happier with the experience. We got off to a rough start with a booking snafu at another hotel, but quickly recovered after calling the Oceanfront Inn and receiving the downstairs apartment. The staff was incredibly accommodating and provided the code to the room to drop our stuff despite not having paid yet. The apartment was perfect. It was clean and well outfitted and the location is absolute prime with the cliffside pacific view, steps from a great coffee shop, and short walk to Gyppo Ale Mill. We will absolutely be back soon!

We had a really wonderful stay here. We booked a studio with an ocean view, and it was perfect—spacious, with a balcony overlooking the water, a fully equipped kitchen, and free coffee. The room was clean, and the service was very friendly with fast responses. Shelter Cove is an amazing place to enjoy nature, and we absolutely loved our time there

We stayed in a 1-bedroom apartment with a huge terrace and a breathtaking ocean view. The road to get here is long but very scenic, even passing through redwoods. The location is secluded, yet the service is excellent and very friendly, and the hotel provides internet access. On the first floor, there’s a popular café, plus a few restaurants nearby. For EV drivers, there’s a Tesla destination charger with 4 stalls — I can honestly say I’ve never charged my car with such an incredible view before. There is also a local store, though you’ll need to drive to get there. As for activities, we enjoyed walking along the beach near the lighthouse. The Black Sands Beach is especially beautiful and long, but be prepared to cross a small creek to reach it. The bathroom is a bit small and could use some updating, but overall, this place is absolutely stunning. It’s perfect for a few days of solitude and recharge by the ocean. We would definitely return — highly recommended!

We stayed in the Captain’s Quarters and really enjoyed our stay. The location is unbeatable, it’s right on the cliff edge overlooking the ocean. It’s great for a longer stay because it has a full kitchen, a separate bedroom, living area and a full bathroom. We have stayed here a couple of times over the last 20 years or so and will be back.

It was an amazing stay. The views are incredible and the staff is so nice. I highly recommend. It is walkable from the airstrip and there are tide pools to explore right outside the back door.

After getting out of suburbia, we headed north to this wonderful remote destination right on the edge of the ocean. The room was beautiful, clean and we could hear the ocean surf all night. The morning view over coffee was peaceful and I really like the contactless check in!

Location location location.. it can’t be beat - you are paying for the views. Great oceanfront views right on the beach. It was Awesome sipping coffee, listening to the waves hit the rocks, and seeing the seals playing in the water
